The 2000 harvest was completed by hand because the young vines were not yet strong enough to withstand the rigors of the machine harvest. Here Antonio in his trademark white cowboy hat points to some grapes missed on the boundary row.

This is the crop in 2001, to me these are among the truly beautiful natural wonders of the world, and the result of five years of work, worry, and love.

The ends of the rows and some rows that have obstructions to the harvester still must be picked by hand. Here in 2001, Antonio keeps the leaves out of the bins that come in with the fruit.

Here Antonio uses a rake to level the top of the load of grapes prior to leaving for the winery in 2001. Can you believe the agility of this man who is 78 years old at this time?

This is an early morning shot of the harvester finishing a night's work in the field.

2002 Harvest caught in black and white by our daughter Sara

2002 crop we believe has produced the best quality yet from the vineyard. Our quality in the future will probably be measured against the color and flavors produced by this crop for year to come.

Even the neighbor cows long for a taste of the vineyard about harvest time.
