Where can I purchase Celestial wines?

  • Directly from our winery by calling 209-887-3178.
  • From Miramont Estate's tasting room.

Do you ship your wine by the case only?

Yes, we ship cases only. Case prices from the winery are $1.00 per bottle less than the suggested retail price.

How do you ship your wine? Do you ship differently during the summer to protect the wine?

  • During the hot summer months, 2nd day air or next day air are the only shipping methods we use. We also offer shipping via UPS Ground Service during the cooler months.
  • We offer free delivery to San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Sacramento counties in California.

What can I do if my local store does not carry Celestial wines?

If you’d like our wine carried in a store near you, please tell the store manager and send us an email with the manager’s name and telephone number. We will send the manager a sample and try to arrange a distributor in the area, if possible.

Can I reserve future releases of Celestial wines? How?

Yes! You can email us with your request to reserve a future release. Since the Celestial Vintners Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is of such a limited release, this is a good way to make sure you don’t miss out. We charge half the price of the order at the time you make your reservation, with the balance due prior to shipment.

Are both the 2001 and 2002 Celestial Cabernet Sauvignon available now?

Yes. Click to place an order.

When will the 2002 Celestial Vintners Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon be released?

Our goal is to release the 2002 Vintners Reserve in April 2005.

Why are your grapes harvested under starlight?

Well, in addition to being more romantic, we believe that harvesting under starlight produces a superior wine. We harvest our grapes at night using a machine harvester. We believe that machine harvesting for wine grapes is the only method to consider. The machine harvester shakes the trellis and the ripe berries simply fall off the vine. The harvesting is done at night when the fruit is cool to protect the fruit and its luscious flavors. The fruit then arrives at the winery in the twilight of early morning.

This process is dramatically different from hand harvesting during daylight. Hand harvesting involves cutting the rachis supporting the bunch and taking it to the winery for de-stemming. Some of the tannin (excessively sharp taste in the wine) comes from the grape drawing in tannin during the hours it remains on the rachis prior to de-stemming in the winery. (In contrast, with machine harvesting, the grapes are immediately removed from this source of tannin.) Hand harvesting typically begins at dawn and is completed around noon, with trucks arriving at the winery in late afternoon – the time of highest heat.

How did the idea of Celestial originate?

I have been a pilot for 30 years. I think that so many years of focusing my attention on the heavens may have been a factor in deciding on Celestial as a brand! The name also beautifully captures the way we harvest our grapes late at night, under the stars.

Where did the artwork come from for the Celestial labels?

The colorful pictures of planets, stars and nebulas are Hubble Telescope images, provided courtesy of STScI and NASA. The wine labels were developed and designed by Zmak Creative in Marina, Calif., in conjunction with Miramont Estate Vineyards. The labels were printed by Western Marketing Services in Anaheim, Calif.
