Miramont Estate Vineyards Wins Bronze Medal at California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition

First competition entry by new winery captures Bronze Award
in California Cabernet Sauvignon class

LINDEN, CALIF. – July 1, 2004 – Miramont Estate Vineyards, a new winery in Linden, Calif., won a Bronze Medal in the 2004 California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition – with its very first competition entry. Miramont Estate Vineyards’ 2002 Celestial Cabernet Sauvignon, which will be released in November, captured the award in the "Cabernet Sauvignon" class for the California (state) appellation.

Miramont Estate Vineyards produced 1,500 cases of the 2002 Celestial Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was aged in oak for one year. Earlier this year, Miramont Estate Vineyards debuted its first wine, the 2001 Celestial Cabernet Sauvignon. Both the 2001 and 2002 wines were crafted from the vineyard’s own estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

The California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition, which was first held in 1855, is recognized as the most prestigious of American wine competitions. The competition is open to wines produced from bonded wineries and intended for retail sale. Any grape or fruit product, grown in California and produced in California on a bonded wine premise, is eligible for entry. The judging for this year’s competition took place June 18, 19 and 20.

On July 15, Miramont Estate Vineyards will join other Commercial Wine Competition award winners for California’s Grape & Gourmet Event at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds, Building A and B, in Sacramento. During the event, Miramont Estate Vineyards will receive its medal and pour its award-winning wine for members of the wine trade and consumers.
